I stopped worry about nofollow/******** a while ago. Purely because having nofollow links in your profile is natural for any site and the best way to ensure it is natural and random is to ignore it completly and let nature take its course so to speak :)

Elgg are mostly no follow as well. For stronger Web 2.0 links, try GSA Search Engine Ranker as it supports more do follow platforms.

I know I am going to get shot here. But the only thing the "f0llow" tag does is decide whether PR is transferred or not.
There are many stories on this very forum of people who have ranked sites with 100% WIKI n0follow links.

I know I'm going to get criticised for even saying that, and I'm not a fan of WIKI blasts or any such thing - but it happens. [shrug]
GSA is a good idea though. I wouldn't use it for first tier, it doesn't handle scheduling and it's content handling is pretty basic, but it adds fantastic variation to a good link structure.

Again - why just WEB2 for first tier [shit I'm sick of going on about this - so I won't - there is no earthly logical reason why anyonw would restrict their Tier one linking efforts to WEB2 only. There are some great platforms with d0follow links, Hi PR, high traffic and static link URL's...but bollox - you don't want to use them? don't bother]

Lol, advanced web link building falls short on some of the script kiddies here Scritty. Blast, blast, blast that's all they know at times. Honest to god, if someone would just slow the hell down instead of worrying about this platform or that platform and just focus on THIS:

    1) Can this tool find me a low obl, high pr site that i can submit to?
    2) Can I find other sites like this?
    3) Rinse and repeat

Then they would be golden. Add to that contextual subject matter of the site you want to link, even better.

But no, peeps around these parts don't think to much like that, at least the ones who should post know better..

    Woohoooo someone with sense =D

I dont think I have ever paid attention to the nofollow/******** tag - a link is a link.

I have a couple of sites I'm trying to rank purely with GSA at the moment, in theory I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'm trying this with both original/handspun content and auto generated stuff out of Kontent Machine with 3 tiers.

There is a time and a place for blasting ;)

But I have to agree with you in regards to worrying about platform etc. When it comes to SEO I find people make things a lot more complicated than they need to be. For example a bad link = a link from a deindexed domain, otherwise its a good link - K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple Stupuid)

I can rank low comp URL's with GSA.
It's content handling is a long way short of what I'd like though. It's a bit "flakey" - it doesn't have bespoke coded targets (just generic platforms)
But I use GSA for some local markets - primarily to index every new post made with it's own mini campaign. and that works well.

As a variation and second tier tool it is great. If you only have a few sites or a few dozen URL's it can do a similar job to Xrumer (which I would use if you had dozens of sites or thousands of URL's to link to - otherwise it's overkill)

So I see GSA as a mini version of Xrumer. Quick links. little content or context (I know it can post to WIKI's etc, but the success and speed and control is not what I would like) Cheap as well.
Will be adding GSA links to my link packets soon. blogs, forums, image sites. The devs helpfully include all the footprints you need to scrape your own. Just ordered another 4 VPS, 4 scrapebox licences (and 160 proxies) to get cracking next week. :)
