Anybody successfully churn/burn anymore?

good seo doesnt need clients, he has his websites making money for him 24/7
I totally agree, i find helping clients tho DOES help me find very good niches, im forced to do research on things i would never look for... and can find some gems.

Well, yes, but I really like working for clients, too. It's different, decent money paid per hour and it's good to know that you'd be still able to pay for the house, cars, you childrens education if Google would vaporize all your own sites in a day. Being good at SEO doesn't mean you are immune to Google slapping you badly, just because your main site cashes in 50k a month doesn't mean it can't go to 1K a month next year. There in no thing like eternal love by Google, enjoy if you have a good run, but don't take it for granted forever ;)

Churn n Burn still works but not like before and SEO is getting harder day by day.

True words of wisdom. Tattoo this words on your brain and you will spare yourself of depression and crappy times when the shit hits the fan.

-And a financial advisory doesn't need clients cause they can make money for themselves
-And a construction company doesn't need clients because it can build its own houses & buildings and sell them
-And a real estate agent doesn't need clients because they can buy & sell property by themselves
-And so forth...

Many reasons why a good SEO should take on clients. It's good money (easy 6 figures a year). Every company for the most part needs SEO, and the SEO providers don't have the tools & products of that company. For ex take a yachting company. They can easily pay you $10k/Mo for SEO ($120k/Yr for you).

It's instant money, no need to wait for your site to rank for all the keywords, gives you great capital to further invest into other projects (SEO & non-SEO) and soooo many other things.

Also clients in rich niches can afford the QUICKLY increasing price tag of quality SEO these days. As Luka said, a yacht company can afford those $1,000-$4,000 links like soda pop. An SEO by himself might have the skill to perform high end SEO, but not the huge budget and zeal for risk it takes to spend top dollar on the kind of links that work well these days. This is why people around here still do SEO for companies. And many who do ALSO have their own side projects, so it isn't one or the other.

Is that method working still in 2018? I read that lately old domains are getting more value that fresh comparing to previous years.

From what I've heard churn and burn has become more difficult, I don't do it but that seems to be what I've been hearing. All SEO has gotten tougher though.
