Anybody received such blackmailing emails?

So this happened like 5 months ago, just posting here to find out if anyone else is getting such emails?





Where to report such blackmailers? and how to deal with them? If you have any suggestions please post so it helps the people who get such emails in future.

The site was ranking top 5 but was not generating much income so i never replied that guy and i never saw any backlinks blast ever done to that site so it didn't harm me. For me the best solution was to never reply them, but if the site was important to me i would have probably replied and even paid them.

First of all you have to be sure that you don't use any BH technique on your website in this moment, after that once he really starts these campaign just use the Disavow tools from Google. As well, if you want, you can forward these mails to the Google Help Desks to let them know about a possible negative campaign over your site.
In the rest you should stay calm.

The fact that they didn't walk the walk says pretty much everything. These messages can be disturbing though.

I received an email like this about 8 months ago and did the same.

If you don't reply to them, the less likely they will be to take action. Think this is because they send out hundreds at a time. Unless your on their hit list...

They just scrape whois records and send off a whole bunch of emails and see who bites.

This is just the beginning. Inverting the blame will only cause more problems. Target sites shouldn't be held responsible for links pointed at them.

There's another thread on here about the exact same thing. I believe the email message is the same as well. It's just some moron blind mailing a bunch of ppl hoping to get any sort of response. I doubt the moron can even do anything negative to someone's site if he knew what it was. I wouldn't waste any time replying, but I'll bet if you asked him to tell you your site name it'd be nothing but crickets.

What you do is forward that to the Police and file charges for attempted blackmail and extortion.

Let the feds pay them a visit.

Never pay a blackmailer, they always come back for more once they know you are a victim. Back up your site regularly. When you get a threat, back up your site immediately, notify your hosting company that the attempt may happen, and notify the FBI (or your country's equivalent) and your local constabulary.

Whoever is blackmailing you guys is probably taking the proper steps to make sure they're covering their tracks.

Worth a shot but just saying.
