Anybody here take supplements?

Athletic Greens. equivalent to 10-12 vegetables and fruit per day. mix with small cup of water. best investment for the money

I eat a pretty clean diet, lots of fruit and veg, plenty of protein.

I also use protein powder but no other supplements.

Good diet + plenty of protein = win.

I'm trying to gain mass.
My gainers is True mass (runs about 35 bucks a container)
and my pre work out is Shot run (also about 35 bucks)
I started at 130 and am up to 156.
Started p90x then started going to the gym.

I'm a pescetarian, I only eat plants, eggs, milk and fish. I can't be bothered taking supplements when my diet is relatively healthy anyway.

Seems like we have a lot of lifters in here.

Summer is around the corner, so how about we start posting our summershapes? :D

I take several all-natural, non-synthetic supplements.

Fat Fighter-Absorbs 30% of the fat ingested at meals
ThermoFit-Curbs appetite and cravings for carbs/sugar
Greens-8 servings of fruits/veggies
Vital-Multi

I also use herbal body wraps to keep my cellulite at bay!

Hey guys,

Aside from a good diet and workout plan, any of you take supplements?
Or do you just eat fast food all day and your chair is also your bed? lol :D

What are some good supplements? I know about fish oil and I still need to do more research on others.
BTW, what is your diet and workout routine like?

I lift competitively ~ $600 per month on supplements and even more on food. Diet/workout we can talk about over Skype / AIM if you are interested. The answer to your question "What are some good supplements?" and every other question you have about the subject, the correct answer is, it depends on your current stats and your goals.

If you are a girl may I suggest to go as hard as you can ?

The only thing that will matter will be the rep range but you can't get bulky.. I hate hearing girls that say that they are afraid to go look like a guy..

Blah girls, the ones that you see that are looking like a guy are probably taking GH or other anabolic steroids.

I probably have more testosterone in my left ear than you have in your whole body..

Joke aside, many girls are sabotaging their chance to have a awesome "but", faster and bigger because they like training with pinky weights
Then the only thing that you are doing is metabolic work which equals burned calories.

But if you want to hit the right spot ( BHW terms, ditch the 0.23 $/day adsense and go for the 1000k/day )

Big weights + squats, deadlifts, glute ham, etc... I aint going into program creation are the right thing for any girls

Glad someone else actually knows this too. That is one of my biggest pet peeves is when girls say they don't use weights because they don't want to look like a guy.

Ladies: There is no possible way you will get big and bulky like a guy unless you're using steroids. You simply don't have enough testosterone in your body to get that way. When girls lift with weights, they get more lean and toned and have a much better looking body than the girls that just do cardio and abs.

Everytime I'm at the gym all I see is the girls doing cardio forever and then they do some abs and call it a day. What's funny is the few girls that are in the free-weight section with the guys doing squats, lunges, bench press, shoulder press, rows, etc. look 10x better than the ones that just do cardio and abs.

While we're on the note of cardio, I should mention that doing cardio is actually catabolic which means it burns muscle. Sure you will lose a few extra calories, but you're burning off all that hard-earned muscle you're trying to gain by lifting weights.

Doing strength straining with weights or machines or whatever you use burns way more calories than basic cardio does and it also accelerates your metabolism for the next 24-48 hours while your body is repairing the muscles you broke down. The best part is you're building up muscle which makes you more lean and toned; something cardio won't do.

Not saying to completely cut cardio out, but just don't overdo it like most people do.

Oh no no, I DO use free weight and machines, but there are things I won't try with too much weight, like bench press or the shoulder lifts or pull downs.

I know I won't really look like a guy but I've seen what bulky shoulders look like in a woman and I hate it, and a bulky chest (pectoralis major) pushes the mammary glands outward and to the sides in a not so aesthetically pleasing way. Oh, and big latissimus dorsii aren't too appealing either in a girl, right?. I do cardio and thai box as well, and lots of ab crunches all in order to compensate for my long hours sitting in front of a computer, both at my day job (animation and design stuff) as well as my IM ventures. I also drive everywhere, which isn't helping either when it comes to sedentary habits.

I stick to the Primal Blueprint lifestyle and take his recommended supplements and shake daily. I don't eat any carbohydrates derived from grains.

Eat a balanced diet of whole foods. Drinking egg whites after a workout is better than a protein shake. Just get the small cartons of egg whites and drink 1/2 to 1 whole carton following a workout.

Also, as far as working out, do whole body exercises like bench press, squats, deadlifts, and powercleans at high intensity as much as possible. Your body will actually burn more fat following these workouts because your resting metabolic heart rate will be up for 1-4 days while your body is recovering, as opposed to just a couple of hours following cardio.

Eggs are actually a slow digesting protein so they are not ideal for post-workout. Eggs are better in the morning or even before bed since they digest slowly and provide your body with sustained energy.

After your workout is when you want a really fast digesting protein so that it gets to your muscles as quick as possible while your anabolic window is still open.

I use a Gemma/Rice/Hemp mix blended up with some fruit for the quick carbs. Whey isolate is also good. I just don't use Whey since it's made from milk and I don't really consume animal products.

It's important to get fast digesting carbs though along with a fast digesting protein because they work synergistically with each other.

Egg is a medium rate digesting protein, about 1.5-3 hours but yes I agree with you Whey is a better choice for post workout. thank you for correcting

hehe, most girls think like that, even at PT sessions... the simple solution is to listen to them, let them do their training ( pinky dumbells, machines ) and after that get them to the squat rack, some deadlifts, some glute work and the second day they will thank you because their but is on flames and quite a little bigger.

You miss out some serious forms, I can't make you change your mind, but you can at least try it for let's say 2-4 weeks and see the results

PS: I like that alot of people from BHW are weight lifting ( If I knew as much IM as I know about diet, training, I would be a millionaire xD )
