Anybody else suffering with the Hostgator Server upgrade ?

Got an email from Hostgator last week...good news we are migrating to new mega servers.

We will be switching your server over next week, you dont need to do anything.

Yesterday half my sites were down. Thought I had been hacked but turned out it was this server "upgrade"

All of my sites are now back up but with load times of 15-25 seconds !! these were optimised sites loading in under a second.

I dont want to get onto support screaming if its going to be something that will just take a few hours to get right but I am losing money and exploring other hosting solutions.

Just wondering if anyone is experiencing the same issue or thinks it will fix itself ?

2 of my sites were down but are running fine now. I didn't experience any performance degradation at all.

I am moving to iWeb next month anyway.

Noticed the same on some sites I host with them.

My sites are so slow that they are unuseable. A lot of my hostgator sites are not much use anyway but two of them are good sites that get traffic and I cant afford to be sitting around in limbo.

They did say it would 24hrs for full migration yadda yadda but I am about to go full mad at tech support.

I started loading one of my sites as I began this message, the front page has just appeared and its still loading pictures ! I type slow..

This happened to me as well.

On top of significantly slower load times I also started getting database/MySQL errors.

I spent an entire week talking to their tech support to try to fix this issue and all I got was "you have too many plugins on your site" and "please install a cache plugin".

I thought that was ridiculous, as my sites were loading fine just a week earlier - and they had the same exact plugins.

So I just got sick and tired of going back and forth with Hostgator's tech support and decided to migrate to another server.

Granted, I'm paying more, but my sites are loading fast again.

If you do a Google search for "Hostgator" + "server migration" you will see that a lot of people are complaining about this.

And it seems that Hostgator's responses have been less than stellar.

My advice?

Just save yourself the headache and migrate to another server.

I just paid in advance for another year so will keep my slim sites onboard. Have to switch some other sites over to my dedi though.

Support was helpful enough eventually but whatever way they want to bag it up they have migrated half of their customers over to shit slow crappy servers that are unuseable with a money making site.

Yes I have there like maybe 30 sites and they are all so fu... slow that Iwill have to move them. This part of IM job I really hate that you have to rely on someone like this with your money. Two years I loved hostgator, it worked without a problem and very cheap.. now I will have to spend countless hours moving those sites somewhere else...

Dont Believe it will get better. I was first migrated in June and my sites that I have on hostgator are moving slow as fuck. And On average of 3 times I have gotten notice of their servers being down. Ever since they got bought out they have been going down hill.

Just read what their support wrote to me. Now I'm pretty sure that they did it intentionally. After they got bought, then probably received order to make more money, so to all (or maybe some chosen customers) they moved them to slower servers or probably put more users and sites to one server. This way they save money and if someone complains they write to them to buy more accounts or go to dedicated server. I think this might work short term, but it will surely damage them long term since now there are all forum where people choose which hosting to buy full of angry customers writing somethign as we here that hostgator sucks.
I really do not want to spend few days moving those sites, but looks like thats only option when the dedicated server costs $170 and im really not going to spend that kind of money on hosting.
