Aside from making a shit ton of money online, another aspiration of mine is to lose some weight.

I'm not terribly overweight, but I think losing 30-40 pounds would be perfect.

Anyone got any advice, especially for appetite control and getting motivated to actually exercise?

inb4 weight loss trial cpa offers ;)

Go out for a run , 30 mins/day ,i do that works fine and keep you stress free

I've wanted to start getting on either my exercise bike or actual bike for an hour or more a day, but it just really comes down to the motivation. I spend too much time trying to make this internet stuff work to get up and do it.

- Exercise is the easiest way to get happy

-Everybody looks good fit

-Weight train FIRST, cardio at the end of work out (anyone reading this thinking about disagreeing, stfu. stfu. you explode your muscles first, and then when you're worn out, you kill yourself with cardio. That's why they're called "suicides")

-Think of working out like sex. Especially doing leg exercises (if you're a guy). Transfer the pain of exercise to the pleasurable burn you get during sex and the pleasure from sex to the burn during exercise. No homo. It makes you better in the gym and in bed.

-It takes time. If you do it every day you will see progress. The harder you push yourself- the more passion you have- the more impressive your results will be. The beneficial effects are noticed almost immediately (energy levels rise) and you start to look better in 2 weeks (if you're honestly pushing yourself hard. so much of working out is mental. you're not a bitch)

- Drink more water, you'll naturally eat less. Eventually the amount you eat now normally will hurt your stomach. also protein shakes. omg so good.

- Get angry. you're a man. move the world with your pushups. High intensity; beat yourself up. defeat yourself. it's gud.

- You're getting healthier. You're functioning better. You're a machine and you're calibrating yourself more accurately.

- Self respect garners respect from others. Taking care of yourself physically is a necessity, not an option

- You'll feel more like You

Get from behind the computer and be more active. As Wiz said above, stop eating the
chips and cookies and anything else that's not healthy. I know it sounds easier said than
done but you can do it if you put your mind to it.

Get a membership at a gym and start working out. If you can afford it pay for a personal
trainer. He/she will get you started on the right foot. Motivation for me sometimes is
working out at a gym with a lot of hot chicks. I live in a big city so there are lots of
options.

For extra motivation, go to a book store and read the health magazines such as Men's
Mag or Muscles & Fitness. Not only will you get some good tips but you'll see lots of
people who are great shape - motivation enough for me.

Hey bud, I'm not a "professional", but this is one place on BHW where I can actually help a LOT. My skype is on my account.. add me and I'll try to help you as best as I can.

Little background: I played pro/semi-pro soccer in Europe and I'm quite fit.

90% of weight loss is diet. Learn to eat healthy foods instead of crap, because most healthy foods are very difficult to eat too much of. Your appetite will be controlled by simply eating lots of vegetables and other foods that don't contain many calories, but are very filling.

If you're issue is being motivated to workout, you may want to try a pre-workout for energy, I hate working out without one.

bodybuilding.com is your friend, you'll find plenty of info there about losing weight as well.

It's all about calories in versus calories out and hitting your macronutrients.

Figure out your basal metabolism (sp?) and cut out 300-500 calories from it by eating less/exercising. Make sure you get a good amount of proteins (40%), carbs (40%) and fat (20%) and you'll start losing weight FOR SURE.

That's it! There's no magic formula except consistance and hard work.

Diet is key to weight loss - get rid of the junk, lose the soda and then incorporate HIIT - check out Insanity

Stay far far away from carbs and sugar.
Try natural juices/fruits for your "sugar-fix" as the glycemic index is lower.
Don't be afraid of fats or calories but do be afraid of anything that will spike your insulin levels (like bread, cereal, soda etc.)
Get a juicer and do a juice fast and watch the pounds drop off without any exercise. Drink lots of water and learn the ph of foods so you can alkalize yourself.

watch this very excellent video about why your body stores fat:

I've lost a bunch of weight recently and though I'm female (and I'm guessing you're a guy) the same advice applies: eat less, exercise more.

I lost the bulk of the fat doing two things:

1. I ate less. A lot less. I went on a serious diet, I eat around 300 calories below maintainance most days, I cheat on weekends and eat some. At one point I was eating 1000 calories and cheating one day a week. Eating less calories also means eating healthy - healthy food fills you up faster and gives you more nutrients. The cheat day helped me stay sane and not plateau.

2. Exercise. Again, I lost a heap of weight when my parents came to visit and we were walking around malls 4 hours a day, every day of the week. They also went to beaches and I made sure to run on the sand (ouch - serious leg workout). A LOT of exercise of any kind will burn weight. I'm maintaining the weight loss by going for hour-long walks 3-4 times a week. You could also lose the weight by following a proper exercise routine if you don't have family who will make you shop/walk for hours on end, or if you aren't a shopoholic yourself :D (yeah shopping is my cardio!)
