Has there been any "traditional" updates in the last 12 months though? It's clear to me that G wants to obfuscate their updates as much as possible by bundling them together so there's overlap, using time delays, and giving out of context warnings/statements to spread fear & confusion. This update has been spread out a bit more than others, granted, but I don't think it's unconventional given recent history.
I've seen significant increases in localization (US mainly) in some markets, and yet another authority boost in ecommerce related niches, among some other things. I noticed a decent amount of shakeup in a couple of the highly competitive niches you're in, too (unless I'm mistaken). But I don't even pretend to know those markets nearly as well as you do.
