Nah. The method I use is to find a post that's rising in /r/nottheonion, quickly rewrite it and post it on another relevant subreddit. With some practice you will get a hang of it.
It has to be something interesting, because even if you game the system and it sucks, it will quickly get downvoted. I once had about 20 acccounts on 20 different private proxies. Slowly messaged and upvoted random stuff for a couple months. Then posted a picture to promote one of my sites. It was a creative pic not blatant advertising. I ended up getting 200-300 upvotes and got a bunch of traffic, but I was hoping it was going to do a lot better. Also remember the timing of the votes matter. The more it gets early, the faster it will rise.
