I've acquired Google snippets in the past out of the blue and lost many of them in the same way :))

Recently, I've mostly done listicles type of articles.

Is there any way to increase your chances of getting and keeping a snippet?

Provide concise and well-structured content that directly answers user queries.
Also optimize for featured snippets by formatting your content to match different snippet types and target long-tail keywords that have a higher chance of triggering snippets.
 
From personal experience, try answering the question while using as many words from the question as possible.

Example Question: Is blue the same color as red?
Example Answer: No, blue isn’t the same color as red. + additional info on why.
 
Focus on creating high-quality, structured content that provides clear and concise answers to user queries. Use headers to break up your content and include lists or tables to make the information easy to digest. Lastly, target specific long-tail keywords relevant to your topic.
 
Focus on providing valuable information and ensuring your content is accurate, up-to-date, and authoritative. And add structured data markup, such as schema.org to your content. This helps search engines understand your content's context and structure, increasing featured snippets.
 
This thread by @RealDaddy is a great idea for being featured in featured snippets.

I did it a bit differently, though, used it in H2s rather than in the H1. Worked like charm.
