Any tips for building a website for a musician?

Hi guys,

I have somehow been talked into building a website for a musician friend of mine. Thankfully he's not looking for anything overly fancy. Just something that'll let people read a bit about him and listen to a few of his songs.

I have been looking at various wp themes (other than my usual generatepress) and also at using an audio player. However many of the interfaces on these audio players feel a bit dated.

Sonaar.io seem to have some decent looking themes and a sexier looking audio plugin. I'm trying to decide if they are worth the money. Does anyone have any experience of using these?

I'm no musician or designer but when faced with task like this I already check what already works first aka analyze competition.

I'm sure there are many non-mainstream musician, minimalistic websites that could inspire you.

Most musician themes are custom made, because it's supposed to be artistic by nature.

So my advice is, if you're great at design, make him something really cool, or if you're not, make it VERY basic... Don't go anywhere in the middle.

Most of my stuff is pretty basic affiliate sites i.e. no bells and whistles just plenty of content.

I'll have a look around some other musicians sites to see if they can provide me with some further inspiration.
