Any testing required on expired domains?

Let's say I find one, site is indexed with good backlinks and all

As long as the site indexs, the spam checks goes through, site only registered once and is not a pbn

is there anything else I should look for before I turn it into a money site?
 
Advertise on BHW
Perhaps plug it into Google Webmasters to check on any relevant information?

Other then that, start adding content and monitoring it. Good luck!

I'd check the trust flow and caution flow. Maybe try majestic.
 
Link to other same niche random site who is doing well on google with unique anchor and check rankings for the phrase you linked if it has any effect after couple of weeks. That's what I like to do to determinate the power.
 
Checking for useless metrics is a waste of time.
 
The anchor profile is most important I guess. That is the first thing any blackhatter would be recognized by.

I do not test anything really. Once the check is done well, there's only a very small chance that the domain will have some issues.

Still, you have to be perfectly sure that the domain is fine. Check anchors, historic anchors, hosting history, archive, domaintools screenshots and you should have a pretty good idea, whether the domain is fine to use.

Also, I would not bother with scraped domains as money sites. If you really want to see some difference, go for auction domains.
 
I'd run the tests below:
1) Check whether any spam links present - if yes, then may not be a good candidate
2) Check metrics TF>25, DA/PA>35
3) If link contain hq links from news sites, or ultra-high authority sites, then this site is a good candidate.

Historic anchors? Like going to archive.org and browsing what anchors did they use throughout the pages?

Hosting history?

Domaintools screenshots?

No, historic anchors in majestic.

Hosterstats and Domaintools history screenshots are self explanatory.
 
Man, metrics mean sh*t, if you don't know how to evaluate a domain. Nargill has some great posts, I suggest reading them especially this one:

In order to do that you have to already own the domain.. not to mention the bazillion gmails you will need in order to add each PBN domain.
