Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has a solution for this lil fb ads problem?

You know FB ads right, if you want to promote an android app then you must use your direct app URL as listed on Google Play Store in order for FB to recognize it as an app and let you promote it as an app.

How can we can promote an app that is listed in Google play store WITHOUT having to use the actual Google play store URL ??

The problem is when type in any other URL that is not a direct url (i.e if you use a bit.ly URL) then it does not detect it as an app, so you can not promote it as an App on Facebook ads.

So crack that for me and we can make $$$$+ per month!

Let me know if you have any question!

Look forward to hearing what you creative black hat folks can come up with! :)

Example of what FB lets you promote as an app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.squareenixmontreal.hitmango

Example of what FB does not recognize as an APP (even though it goes to the same landing page) - which I want to find a way to promote on FB ads as an App:

Why you do not want to use the direct play.google.com link?

did you try yourdomain.com/play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.squareenixmontreal.hitmango with a redirect to app LP?

I second this as a possible solution - you might want to try using a meta-refresh, or a PHP redirect instead of a 301. It's possible it would work, but I have not tested it directly. I just understand the logic employed in devising the solution. Hopefully it works for you!

Moved to the proper section.

Thanks Jazzc,

do you know what I'm talking about in the OP? Do you have anything up your sleeve for this problem?

Preciate it.

No luck. Tried, Java, 301, 302, meta-refresh.

Thanks any ways.

Still looking for some way to get facebook not to spot that I'm going through another domain first before it redirects to the google play store app.

I don't think that's possible. Won't Facebook realize that the link you're using is not the direct Google Play Store URL and subsequently cancel your ad?

If you are using a Affiliate URL for your yourdomain.com URL, the install will register for the App and not your affiliate panel. AFAIK, there is no way of using a non-G-Play URL however same kind of results & targeting can be achieved by using the in-built targeting options.
