My original reply probably wasnt the most helpful to your situation so ill outline what I am doing for my site.
Disavowed most of my links: yeah, pissed off a few grands worth of links. Everybody should access the disavow tool just for a look, you will be shocked at the state of some of your crap links. I downloaded the file from webmaster tools, got rid of the obvious crap then manually checked what was left. I reckon I saved about 60 and disavowed 1600 links.To all the "hey man dont play Googles game" hippies out there...fuck you...I'll do whatever I have to do to get my site reranking and most webmasters feel the same, Google knows their audience.
Rewrote content: I have no need to rewrite content, most of my site was targeted and sharp. However any pages with under 500 words I went back to and fleshed out to have more substance. I had several pages with infographics and no content.Now they have infographics and content.
Private pages: Working on a theory here. Google wants fresh content but sometimes you dont want to add pages to your already perfect site. Well I am adding indexable private pages to see if this gets me some traction. Figured its worth a go and havent seen anyone else talk about it.
Built no links: Yeah dying to and my brain tells me that links rank sites but I am chilling and not under pressure. I reckon it could take till the next update to reap rewards so ill wait a few months.
Gone G+ Pro: putting more emphasis on G+ than facebook or twitter. Installed the Rel-Business code into my header, built a good quality business page with followers and interaction.
Apart from some other on page fine tuning thats what Ive done. Results so far are nothing. But like I said I'm willing to sit it our for a few months. Hope thats a help.
Ah I see. I am really starting to hate Google now. This really sucks, as I had big dreams for this site haha. I guess that new motorcycle can wait
