Any recommendations for beat making software?

Reason is different than the other softwares because you cannot install any VST's on it without patching through FL Studio or another DAW, but I used to use reason for over six months and it can make much the same music as other DAWs that have the power of some powerful VSTs like Massive etc. One thing to add about Reason is that some professionals can tell that a song has a "Reason" sound due to the fact it has only a certain amount of features unlike every other DAW. Still an amazing program though, and I recommend it over FL Studio & Ableton (which is what I was using previously)
 
Oh, and for the people saying "don't start out with difficult software", I would suggest starting out with one of the actually good softwares (FL Studio, Ableton, Cubase, Reason, Logic) because if you don't you will just have to relearn how to use a whole different DAW

Actually what you do is open another DAW through Rewire, and it's open inside of Reason kind of. Hard to explain unless you see it.
 
I'd Say Ableton or logic. Maybe FL studio but I don't like it. It doesn't really matter what program you use, its about witch interface you prefer the most.
 
Ableton Live. He has tried all major music software, and ended up with Ableton Live, since it's the best according to him.
 
Daughters B/F is a producer, been at it a while.
Just had one of his beats assigned to the title track for a Lyons Gate movie due for release in 2014.

He uses nothing but FL Studio and various VST plugins.

I used to make jungle/drum and bass music back in 1996 - 2000. I always used Sony Acid. It was easy for me to understand and use to make the music that was inside my head. Recently (2 months ago) I started writing music again and I went back to old faithful (Sony Acid) and downloaded a free trial: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/acidsoftware

I still use my old MC50 from Roland !!! With all my old synths and modules but i like to write music using Sequel from Steinberg now.
In fact, i got some songs you guys are hearing here and there made with these back then. Man time flies i'm telling ya...
