1. VPN in China is illegal. So, you cannot trade inside China with normal advertising. One option is to advertise with bloggers, like"十佳评测"，“vpn大大” ,...etc Chinese VPN bloggers. You can find them using Chinese word, like "VPN翻墙"，"IP代理推荐"
2. Your website should have dynamic Chinese language option.
3. I know from the past, don't know if still exist or not. You have the biggest problem is Alipay have "Only inside china trade" problem, that mean if you (as company or business account) registered from "outside Country", Chinese people may cannot pay to you. (You have to find way to solver this)

You should find a platform to sell those "digital goods"
if you have high amount of content (if you do copyright things) you can upload to 城通网盘 and share the link as "digital good" 城通网盘 is like advertise+file sharing //they pay you with how much people clicked the link, not "how much download you have"

You have to start to get traffic from somewhere related with your product's niche.
Then
Make them subscribe to you 公众号(公众号 is like Blogger inside Wechat, you need to update and hard working for unique content and post related digital good link to make them buy it, is similar to affiliate website+YouTube subscribe function)

The project need patient and time. If you don't have it, don't try it.

And you need a chinese phone number, if you want to do legal stuff

yes
a lot of words, mostly related to adult content, crime, politics, and other topics with a negative connotation
i think there could be some guide or lists for reference
you can try to find them with baidu instead of google
