Any psychologists out there?

Basically I have been having a hard time getting people to click on my direct message referral links on Twitter. I've been sending thousands of dms out automatically every day (for weeks now) with tweetlater but I haven't been seeing many referrals with revtwt ( a few dozen)

These are the auto-welcome messages that get sent out to new followers. I never send any messages after that. Can spam and all that!

I believe that a carefully worded message may make all the difference. I need some suggestions on a (140 word) message that will tap into their subconscience and make them click on the link.

I have been using the following message, and I feel maybe it is a bit spammy and insincere, but it was the most attention grabbing I could come up with.

[FONT=&quot]MAKING MONEY from your tweets? No!? I am. Making $$$ daily on autopilot. Make money too - TODAY! [ref link here] Thanks for following![/FONT]


Anybody who has experience in sales page writing or copy writing or anything along those lines may be able to help me best.

Back in January 09 i made about $300 in a few hours of DM sending with accounts that i checked from my inviter database (yahoo, gmail. aol etc) but then they posted my shit on washington post and intimidated few cpa networks.. something is up with them i don't like em at all.

First, can-spam wouldn't apply to DMs. You can only send DMs to people who are following you. In other words, they have already opted in to receive communications from you. So send away.

Second, you're not going to make anything significant with Revtwt anyway - at least not if you follow their rules. You'd need thousands of accounts to make even a living wage. The only problem with that is that you can only have 10 twitter accounts associated with your Revtwt accounts.

Third, if you're trying to cultivate any type of relationship on Twitter (marketing or otherwise) a once-daily DM is actually an important part. My conversions with twitter-whoring have gone up 300% since I began DMing. I use software that actually lets me use a person's first name in my DMs, which helps tremendously.

Finally, that DM text is super-spammy. The problem is that 99% of the bots on Twitter are selling marketing products. So when people are scanning their DMs, the ones that look like all the rest get ignored.

If you were a car salesman, how many would you sell if you went out on the street and starting yelling at everyone "Buy a f****ng car everyone - I have bills to pay!". Not many. Especially if all the other salesmen were doing the same. People would simply avoid the street with all the raving lunatic car salesmen. That's what's going on at Twitter. People simply ignore all the yelling about products. In that environment, a whisper about how someone's day is going or other trivial question will get far more attention and draw them into a dialogue with you. Engage with your followers. It's your job as an Internet marketer to convince them that you are not like those other idiot car salesmen.

Take a cue from every successful Internet Marketer that I know of: stop the up-front hard sell. Once you have sent them a couple of messages asking about their day or job or whatever, then maybe send a link. You don't even have to respond to their responses. Your CTR will be much higher (and yes, you can automate all of the warm and fuzzy DMs). If you're doing affiliate stuff instead of CPC, don't send them straight to your affiliate (conversions from twitter for most affiliate stuff are sh*t anyway). Setup a quick site where they'll get a free e-book (there's about a billion PLR books for free in the download section) if they enter their email address. Now you have an Internet marketer who has given you permission to email him or her with affiliate offers for years to come. If this sounds like old stuff, its because it is. They are time-tested techniques that work. The rules don't change simply because Twitter is a new medium. Twitter has brought new ways of accomplishing the tasks, but the tasks are the same.

Cheers fish for that quality post. Makes sense. I was kinda lazy i suppose before and just threw enough mud so that some of stuck. What is the name of that software you use that uses their first name. I've seen it in action on Twitter and it does make ya feel special even if you know that its an auto-welcome message.

I actually saw your DM before in one of my accts.. it was a little bit of a twist compared to most with ref links. Thought it would be converting well, I guess not.

I agree, it could simply get trashed by those who actually check their DM's.

Everybody and their Grandma is on Tweetlater.

So, those who receive massive amounts of DM's are most likely refuse to go through them because it's a pain to delete/reply to them.

I am using Super Duper Auto Tweeter 2.0. I wrote it. I posted 1.0 to the forum, but I haven't yet released this version to the public. It now supports unlimited variables in tweets and DMs and even lets you target your DMs by the sex of your followers and/or the number of people the follow/followers that they have. It also lets you include their first name (properly capitalized) as a variable anywhere in your DMs. It even lets you have a custom "posted from" line with any link you want in it, so that even your tweets that you post with no links in them always have a link, and the target of the link can be changed at any time (it's where the thing normally says "Posted 5 minutes ago from Web" - with this you can have it say "Posted 5 minutes ago from Click Here to Make Cash Online" and that whole "Click Here to Make Cash Online" is linked to a forwarding URL that can take them anywhere you want them to go. I'm getting some pretty killer results from all of this so far in my own use. Sorry if this post is getting long, I'm just excited about it .

It's pretty cool. I'm not sure what I will do with this one yet. The feature set is getting pretty far beyond anything that anyone has released for Twitter marketing, so I don't know if I'll do the free thing anymore. I may do a sale thread on here. I'd like to post a few day trial version to the downloads section, but I don't know if that's allowed or if I have to do a for sale thread.
