I'm a dad of two, and my oldest is starting preschool this month.

I'm thinking ahead about how to raise independent, resilient kids without being too pushy. My biggest priority isn't money or career. It's their mental and physical well-being. I struggled with OCD through my teens and early 20s, and I'd love to help my kids avoid or manage similar challenges.

Do any parents here have habits, routines, or long-term parenting approaches that have worked well for raising emotionally healthy, independent kids?

Hey, fellow dad. Let them be bored, validate feelings without rushing to fix, and model calm reactions yourself. Give tiny responsibilities so they feel capable. For OCD stuff, just teaching that thoughts aren't facts goes a long way. You're already doing great by thinking this way.

I'm also the father of two kids. My elder son is now in first grade, and my younger daughter is in lower kindergarten.

I had those same questions in mind before my kids started school. But seriously, none of these approaches or guides exactly suit every child. The circumstances and present situation will shape children. As parents, the only thing we should do is talk to our children regularly.

I share my regular daily work with my kids, even if they don't understand what it is. I also encourage them to share what actually happened at school from 9 to 3. This approach is working really well, and slowly they are sharing the mistakes they made at school.

A friendly approach always helps with kids. Don't make things too complicated or hide behind fancy approaches. Be cool and calm
