Can confirm that some of them are still working. I found some of them when searching on Google for really long-tail keywords.

So, the short answer, yes they do,
You'll need to invest in some twick to come up with a better design, content and good links/domain especially,
Mixing them up with different type of articles would be a good practice as well,
Just avoid blasting a new domain with 100's of articles and wishing to bank,
It could work in some cases, but it's not something to rely on

I'm thinking about paa sites to build
