Has anyone found a method/technique that seems to combat the constant dropping of micro niche sites in the SERPs lately? My sites that seem to drop a few spots almost every week until they go from top 3 on page 1 to page 2 and then just get stuck there. This has been happening to quite a few sites of mine. These are micro niche sites with 5-10 posts per site. These sites have not had any sort of backlinks done to them maybe in over 6 months.

I've heard others say that adding new content like a couple of 400-500 words posts every week helps to stop and maybe reverse this. But, from what I can gather it doesn't seem to be that you need to have fresh content posted to reverse it or start moving up. I have seen quite of few sites that have not updated or have the same 5 posts on their site and are still ranking #1 or in their top 3 spots before the Panda updates and up to now. So if it was a just a matter of adding new content then these sites would have been hit as well.

So has anyone seen any success with just doing more backlinks (get high PR backlinks and maybe edu/gov links) to stop the gradual drop in the SERPs? Has anyone found a way to combat this and that is working for them?
