Anybody knows how to build some good ol back links for a somewhat new
e commerce website?

Also would I need to add articles to the website as well?

You can use bookmark Demon, web2.0 submitter, and onlywire.
Also, I've heard of tnx.net, but I'm not too familiar with them. Maybe someone else can comment on them.
Also, commentkahuna or something similar to add comments(good comments, not spam) to blogs.

Or write an article(Or have someone else do it) and submit it to article directories. Include your keyword in a hyperlink somewhere in the main body of the article.

all of the above plus look in the members download forum for a thread about 1200 free backlinks, adapt it a bit and it should work well
