Hey Guys, thanks for reading.

One of my laptop boots if I use a 1gb ram stick, but wont boot if I use the original 2x8 gb sticks it came with, even though both 8gb sticks work fine in other laptops, wont boot if I use a 4gb ram stick even though that stick is fine too.

I should add I was able to boot once with 4gb stick before I tried the 1gb stick, but ever since I tried the 1gb stick it wont work with 4gb either. The computer goes on no logo no bios only black screen and the power light, I can hear the fan.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Used to be in IT here:
Its fucked.

seriously though its hard to find out what it is without actually having the laptop, have you ruled out a broken ram slot?

A stupid question, maybe it cannot even solve your problem.

Did you try to clear the CMOS of your motherboard? It could even do something for your situation.

Otherwise, could RAM ports be damaged in some way and they just cannot hold more than 3,4 (like a 32bit processor can see) gb somehow?
