I used to query Google search with a special search string - but that doesn't work anymore either - Google no longer supplies the results

Tried it, and the keyword is included in every search phrase returned - that's not LSI
LSI is closely related phrases relevant to the search phrase - not multiple versions of the exact same search phrase

Just tried it, and it just pulls the keywords out of the top ranking sites
Don't like it for LSI - but it would be OK for SEO article writing
Just tried my special LSI search string - and the error box is gone, but different search results came back when I re-ran a previous search
Google is now simply pulling the keywords out of the top 3 ranked sites - this is not LSI any more!

No, they're all rubbish for blueprinting a LSI site - but you could use it for content writing - I already use a commercial software that does something similar to lsikeywords.com - i.e. identify keywords in content of top ranking sites, in order to write your own top ranking article
I'll have to work out a new LSI keyword finding system for LSI site blueprinting

Yes, it fetches a long list of search phrases - but it's the same problem as the other search tools - the root search phrase is in nearly every long tail it fetches

I think you confused in LSI Keywords and Contextual Keywords.
For example:
keyword: buy facebook fans
LSI Keywords are:
buy facebook fans cheap
buy facebook fans review
buy facebook fans and likes
buy facebook fans usa
buy facebook fans wholesale
buy facebook fans best
buy facebook fans us
Contextual Keywords are:
buying facebook fans
buy guaranteed facebook fans
how to buy facebook fans
buy facebook fan
buy cheap facebook fans

I use LSI for blueprinting authority sites, using silo structure - so my needs are different from most other people
your first example "LSI keywords" could not successfully blueprint an authority site
Your second example "Contextual Keywords" is closer to what is required - but it's still just "facebook fans" - still too narrow for an authority site
I suppose it depends on what you need the LSI keywords for
Google search used to provide what I wanted - now it just supplies the keywords used in the top ranked sites
There are other ways to get the keywords, and I'm working on it now - I may go down the co-occurrence LSI route - just that it only took me 30 minutes to blueprint an authority site before Google changed things

Related key phrase to the targeted keywords you target.
For example, the Keyword you target is "SEO" , so LSI would be "How to do SEO" , "What is SEO"
