Any experiences with the disavow tool ?

Hi guys ,
i got slapped on one of my new websites 2 weeks ago and i got a recent message on the google webmaster tools saying that i'm penalized for unnatural link building . so i'm thinking of using the disavow tool to block all the links i already built since i can't remove them manually .
Anyone tried it ?

It works most of the time but you won't see the effects of the disavow until the next Google algorithm update.

You will see the threads about the next update pop up here on BHW like two weeks in advance. At least that's what I have seen this year.
