Any europeans that bought something from Craigslist US ?

I'm trying to make a deal with some guy from California to sell & send me his bike but the problem is I'm living in Europe. I told him we can use an escrow service and when I receive the package he will get the $ but the shipping may take up to 1 month and he is looking for a 'cash in hand' type of deal.

What would be a good way to conduct the transaction so that if I transfer the money,
I will have some kind of insurance that I will receive the bike ?

Why don't you find a similar deal in your country/Europe?

I would try to find a similar deal here but the item that I want to buy is a custom hand made bike with some vintage accessories that I doubt I'll find here.
