I've been hearing a lot about co-citation and co-occurence... any tips about any of them? I couldn't find much here or on any other websites...

One more thing I almost forgot to mention, did you see the video on Moz about it? http://moz.com/blog/prediction-anch...l-be-replaced-by-cocitation-whiteboard-friday Posted a couple years ago the prediction seems to be coming true, anchor text is not only weakening but I see a lot of SEOs including myself being super careful NOT to rely heavily on keyword anchor text.
