I would like to make some improvements and additions to one of my method threads. Is there any chance to get that post opened for editing again? I have already used the search function, but couldn't find any answer to this...

Open a new, continuation thread and mention the previous one on it.

You can always ask the section mod to have the thread edited for you. Other than that, there is no way of editing a thread that is more than 24 hours old regardless of whether you are blue, sky or white.
