I am looking for a service that actually posts real posts on blogs with links in the content. Is there anything like that out there or would I be better served creating my own blog empire?

Do you mean something like Link Vana or Build My Rank?
 
myblogguest.com is pretty good, and free too.. You could also outsource a company to find blogs to guest post on. This has worked for me and is nice because the blog owners will give you a permanent contributor account where you can go back and link to new sites as well. Over time, quick high quality backlinks are a breeze.

I feel that article marketing isn't as powerful as blog marketing due to ping/post and Google's algo (This is my own opinion/feeling).

How about creating a huge blog farm? Is that worthwhile? Thinking maybe some blogger blogs, other free blogs (wherever that might be), and then purchasing domains for WP?

It would be nice to have 1000 blogs to post my links on whenever I want to target the keywords I want... especially if they are targetted niche blogs.

Make sense?

It's cheaper to just pay for in content links from blogs. I think it's pretty cheap these days.
 
What do you mean by "Real posts" - do you mean unique article per post or what?
