I'm currently traveling in India and have stopped in Goa for a few weeks to do some work on my websites. Just wondering if there were anyone from Goa who wants to meet for a chat about IM and SEO? I'm currently in Benaulim.

Haha, yes I know what you mean. I decided to stay in south Goa rather than the busy north part, which probably tells you a bit more about me. Heck, Benaulim seems to be surrounded by lots of 50 year old tourists which is actually ok by me as Im no longer the party animal I used to be  I've been traveling for 2 months, am getting tired of moving regularly and have rented a local apartment for a month. Ive done all the usual tourist things, but need some time out from staring at my laptop screen and wanted to see if there are any local BHWers around. Goa seems very different from the rest of India though, and I'm missing practising my Indian head wobble :)

If you are in South of Goa and a liitle board you can do two things

1) See Dudhsagar Waterfalls

2) Go to Hampi

You will not regret your decision :)

Yes i am from Goa, but i am kinda freaked out with the idea of meeting up someone from the internet. I live in panjim. You might wanna be there for carnival .. it will be somewhere around in feb, and don't miss out on baga ,calangute late parties, titos and mambos. you should visit the hingos flee market. its only on saturday nites

Just done a search on Dudhsagar and it looks amazing. I've been using the Lonely Planet as a resource, but it doesn't mention this place at all. Hampi has been recommended by so many people I have met on my travels and it's my next destination. As a non Hindu, I think it will be the first temples in India that I will be allowed to visit :)

Is Panjim really busy with tourists getting drunk and listening to trance music? Baga and Calangute I have read about, but it's not my scene man, I prefer much quieter places. I've been traveling up the coast line along the beaches and so far my favourite place in Goa has been Galjibaga beach which is a protected turtle reservation beach with only a handful of people on it. I was at a resort named BlueWhale which had really strong WIFI signal and I managed to work on my laptop swinging from a hammock about 20 metres from the sea :)

If you visit Rajasthan, shoot me a PM ;)

Will be heading there in March to see the Golden temple on the lake :) What will the temperature be like then? I have very little clothes and notice its getting colder as I travel north. Started in Kerala which was really hot in the evenings. I couldnt sleep it was so hot. The further north I go, the colder it gets in the night. This is good for sleeping, but not so good for wandering around late at night :)

Just did a search on Goa and the images are just beautiful. Never knew there was such an awesome place in India.

Although Goa is a state in India, its kinda different from the rest of India because of the influence of Portuguese rule for over 450 years. It's one of the richest states in India and attracts millions of tourists each year from all across the world. Plenty of Russians, Germans, French, English, American, Canadian and domestic Indian tourists, especially on the coast.

Sorry for the late reply (I just came across this thread while doing a routine search) but I'm from Goa. So how was your trip?
