Any article directory platform similar to these sites?

I'm thinking about putting out a few article directories websites out there.

Instead of going with the most commonly used: ajarticle, and wordpress plugins, I was thinking if the BHW community new of something more modern such as the ones used by these places:

medium.com
sportsblog.com
