Get a cheap host that use wordpress
Most host are very cheap todays world.
You can even get them for £3 yearly .

Drupal I think is paid, joomla looks free.

Additionally, most web hosting providers have a tool to "1-click install" Drupal, Joomla, WordPress etc.

yes, you have to buy a new domain and hosting and then use wordpress, for example i use wordpress for my site seon.co.id, so you can full control to use many themes or plugins for your site

Okay,
I am buying a webhost from hostagtor.
Which is costing me 5.5$ for a month, and I have opted for a free domain .website instead of .com ( which costs 10$)
I want to first get my feet wet, before making a dive.
I am willing to invest, but not without testing and proper research.
Do you think this is a good plan?
Edit : I am still waiting on the checkout.

I don't know what your plan is, so I cannot say if it's good or not.
But if you want to start blogging, getting web hosting is definitely a good start - so you're on the right track.
Good idea to test the water before jumping in - good luck with your IM adventure sir.

OP drupal is more secure and really good, but little tough to handle for new IMers.

Did you create a blog on a free weblog like workdpress.com? if so, regardless of the blog platform, the host wouldn't let you install any plugin because it's easily abused by all sorted of plugins. Get yourself a shared hosting plan, setup Wordpress easily Softaculous and you can install any plugin you like.

I would stick with $0.88 Namecheap domain as they offer free WHOIS privacy if I'm not mistaken.
There you go. With $6 spent you have your own domain and hosting for you site for 1 year and full control.

Wordpress is better known and has more info online if you need help and guidance. In saying that, as mentioned Joomla and Drupal also have their virtues but may require a bit more technical knowledge. Self hosted Wordpress only requires hosting and domain. In fact you may even be able to set up through the hosting package using the quick instal facility many often offer, which will set Wordpress up for you, including database etc.
