I need alternative and a free solution for Azure. Getting the account is a pain in the ass. I have a couple of projects I like to host as my personal portfolio.

Mono is open source and has an implementation of ASP.NET and ASP.NET MVC that you can run on Linux servers.

I'm using www.thehostingheroes.com to host my C# web apps. Pretty cheap, and without all the bells and whistles thankfully of azure. Easy hosting and maintenance and support.
