    Hi there,

I created my first ever WP blog (and first action in IM) a couple of weeks back, and was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to improve it?

At the moment I get 15/16 UVs a day. The only advertising I've done is on Twitter, so some of these will be bots too I imagine, since I post automatically on Twitter with each new blog post. I'm also getting a couple of clicks from Google which is nice, but I'm not ranking for any of my main keywords - the keywords I get clicks from are much more specific and get hardly any searches. Up till now not had any earnings from it too, but hopefully that will come after some work!

If anyone can give me any advice on the site, and it's content that would be a great help, but also if you have any tips on driving traffic to it that would also be greatly appreciated! I've bought a scrapebox recently, but was worried about using it on such a new site, so plan to build manual backlinks soon and am also going to purchase a few .edu backlinks...

Thanks in advance guys - wouldn't have got to the point where I have a setup blog with actual content without this forum!

Seo - build links. Use clickbank to sell applicable products with this awesome traffic that you'll soon be getting.

    First off
If your motive is adsense income: get a High CTR theme.
If your motive is affiliate sales: Put a banner!

Secondly... You have a big ass tree thing at the top.. thats going to take your bounce rate through the roof. If you want people to read your stuff or click your ads use ur real estate properly.

Third... there is no onpage SEO... get some awesome plugins out there and use them to automate your SEO effort.. You would find the list easy on this forum.

Fourth.. you got 0 backlinks according to yahoo. Get some web 2.0 properties linking to your site and blast links to them. Basic SEO you know.

I'll add more if i find something!

Thank you, that's a massive help!

    1) To be honest, I wasn't sure which from Adsense and affiliate sales would work better so I've just mixed it up, and have rotating ads... there are 4 ad spaces altogether (2 which show when you open up a blog post, and 2 which show up on all pages in the sidebar). Do you think this is a bad strategy?

    2) Yes I just used the default theme because I couldn't find any fitness related ones, but I thought it looked alright... What do you mean by the bounce rate thing? Surely if someone clicks through to my site they'd at least take a look at the content regardless of whether the tree's there or not? I do see your point, but I'd be interested as to know how much of a difference it makes! I will look at changing the theme though; I noticed there are quite a few decent ones posted on the forum, such as the CTR one you mentioned!

    3) What do you mean there is no onpage SEO, I genuinely don't understand this, and how that you can tell? I installed All in One SEO, and each time I make a new post I enter keywords into that? I thought that was as much SEO I could do in WP?

    4) Yes, this is something I do need to work on! I've been reading up on backlinks and scrapebox over the last couple of days, and I imagine it will boost my ranking a lot if I do it! Am I right in saying, what you mean is to link to my site on Web 2.0s sites , and then use scrapebox to blast links to the web 2.0 posts? Or did you mean to blast links to web 2.0s? I'm sorry if that doesn't make much sense to you, I've still not grasped it all completely, but what I have mentioned a lot is that I shouldn't use SB on a new site?

Thanks so much for your time and advice, do appreciate it buddy!

1 & 2 -- Simply, change your layout. Unless you actually plan on using that banner space and know how to modify it. Get something simple and effective like the Green Park 2 theme. Completely free, as well. Stay with a theme that is adsense effective (read: high CTR) because most are compatible to also promote CB, Amazon, etc, if you wish to do so.

3 -- <h1> <h2>, etc to start. Use the search function for on-page SEO. There is gobs and gobs of information out there.

4 -- Write articles, build web 2.0, blast the 2.0 properties, not your money site (yet).
