Another update? Two websites's rankings dropped

Hi,

Does anyone have any idea what is happening these days? Seems that two of my clients got an average of minim -2 and max -15 penalization on all keywords. Some of them got over top 100 but got back again. I didn't build any backlink on these websites in the last days (last 5 days).
Anyone?

A lot of blog networks have been hit hard recently. If either site relied on posts from BMR or similar service, that might an explanation
 
Actually Google's been rolling out a ton of algorithm updates over the past two
months.

Google just confirmed via their Twitter today that they are rolling out a new Panda
version.

Holly shit. The strange thing is that I don't know if I was HIT my website or websites which linked to me. Maybe some other blog networks were hit :confused:
 
It's tough to say right now, Envy. I think it's likely they sniffed out some blog networks and devalued them, which is probably where your rankings drops came from (if you used BMR, linkvana, link vine, or any others). It could also be an algo adjustment unrelated to blog networks.

I have a feeling they want us to think they're punishing websites as a scare tactic, when all they're doing is devaluing the link footprints and/or optimization signals.
 
Could be a ton of different reasons. What have you done in the past for linkbuilding, how old are the sites, what sort of sites are they?

Too many factors to consider.
