And so while continuing my SB journey I would like to know ...

For example, I have watched Looplines tutorial on scraping URL's from a sitemap. but what I want to know is why would you do that?

Are there any resources for absolute idiots :-)

Another would be, I can scrape emails, but what can I do with them

I can almost hear you all giggling :-)

Thanks

You would want to do it for the single biggest reason:
You won't have to scrape Google to find all pages of the website.
A single sitemap and BAM! you will have all the URL's of that site.

Scenario: You find an autoapprove blog, now you want to find all postable links on that blog. If you can find the sitemap, you won't have to hit Google to fetch results.

I missed your e-mails question.
Say you are promoting a certain/product service. You would want to find niche relevant blogs and collect e-mail addresses from there.
Once you have the e-mail id's, start contacting/mailing them.
Now if you ask why do I have to contact them, I might start giggling.

Thanks CT and as I read your answer I am giggling, it's funny how much of a tosser you can feel when starting something new.

After posting I did in fact scrape a few hundred emails in related fields and added them to my Mailchimp and sent them all an email headed simply 'You have been mentioned in this blog' My thinking was that curiosity may get them to the site and then look around for comments they will never find ... That's a P***er isnt it ?? but they may just think they missed the comment, and if they come back, as one did, I will say 'OOps' they are due to be mentioned and they shoulc check back...

Not sure if this is the best way to go about such activity .. but, you never know ;-)
