Another PR Rank update?

OK, from the sound of it mostly everybody in this thread has been seeing a PR increase. If what happened here is representative of the entire PR update over all sites in Google's index, then I'd say the only thing that has increased is the actual numeric PR. The increase relative to other site isn't there, if most pages are seeing an increase. Ergo, PR seems to start mattering even less.

BTW, to illustrate this, a site of mine I've neglected for at least six months has seen an increase in PR. This without me doing ANY work on it, so no new backlinks or anything. Sure, there could be a plausible explanation for the increase if sites backlinking saw an increase too, but their increase must have come from somewhere too.
 
What I see is a bunch of people with new sites walking around with a hardon for Google and in a little while they are going to get their dick smacked with a stick by google when the PR drops back. This is a screwup on their part, there is no way a site that is less than a month old would get a pr let alone a 1-4. Hell I expect mine to drop again because it is only 8 months old. Use your head and cover up because they will be looking to smack it.
 
Lol I checked my site which is only a few weeks old with seoquake and its now gone from pr0 to pr5 :O and I am nowhere to be found on the google searchings either when I check with Seo serp :(

five day ago ,my main domain (iclick .vn ) got PR 0 . Now =2 ( iclick.vn)
but this page --> got PR 3: iclick.vn/thiet-ke-web.html
main domain isn't always get the highest PR ?
 
Noticed this as well. Some of my sites went up, luckily no one went down. :)
 
I noticed a few bumps yesterday. Nothing huge, just a few of my sites I was happy to see go from pr0 to pr1 and some pages go from pr1 to 2

Weird thing is one of my main pages that was a pr2 dropped a point, and a clients site went from pr5 to pr4 even though they continue to gain positive rankings...weird

I understand and agree with what your saying in a way.Most of my top rankings have pr 0 or pr1, its not directly correlated, or at least necessary, to rank well...of course. But having more pr and more authority is only going to make it easier and the main benefit, imo, is to be able to use that pr to link out contextually in a smart manner to boost other sites/pages.

Don't agree with you, it could be domain age, link age, old links getting indexed,a change in the algo that your site is now benefitting from etc...
 
Lots of people love to say PR doesn't matter, only SERPs matter. People who say that ..

Don't flip sites
Don't buy links
Don't sell links
Don't trade links
Don't offer linking services
Don't have article directories as part of their "http://www.bluehatseo.com/seo-empire-part-1/" foundation of their seo empire

It's fine if you don't do any of the above, really. You can make it as an IM, and make a ton of money without doing any of the above.

Just because you don't do it doesn't mean other people don't do it ... for the people who do it, PR matters alot.

Nope not at all. If someone links to your inner page, that inner page gets all the PR. If that inner page links to your homepage, your homepage gets a fraction of the PR.

The homepage isn't any different than any other page on a website -- usually it has a lot of PR because it is always linked from every page (so it gets the PR of the inner pages) and on top of that, most people do linking campaigns to their homepage.

These are exactly my thoughts.

It's just a question, if it will stay like that with the PageRank.
It would be good, mostly for link trading in my way, and should be for some of you aswell.

It look like minot PR updates happening multiple times a month now... So, if G changed their attitude toward PR updates it means there is something behind it, but what?

And don't say it has no value, otherwise G would just "cancel" it.
