Another newbie

Hello everyone,

I guess I will start with I am a middle aged man who is trying to get back into computing and internet programming(for lack of a better word). I used to take old computers and build them up over twenty years ago. I would pick up old 186 and 286 bare units and put in hard drives and program them with windows and other programs in DOS. But it has been over twenty years and i have forgotten pretty much everything, but now I have realized that I need to get back into it and have found out that there is so much info and so many things that have changed. It is very overwhelming. So any advice for someone who needs to basically start from scratch would be greatly appreciated, especially in the areas of ip addresses, proxy servers, DNS and all those things that are beyond basics.

hey man, welcome. you can search for the things you want to know here. it may need some time but i'm sure you'll get to it. i'm a newbie and still learning too. you'll be surprised with the info that you can find here. just spend some time to go through all the threads here. look at other peoples journey and stuff *sorry for bad english tho* goodluck man
