I finally have a project! And, stupid as I am, it is a amateur porn website.

Well, I know. Making money with porn is not that easy anymore. The competition is tough, amateur is not a good niche, revenge porn can lead one to jail, et cetera.

What can I say to you? I'm just... romantic! I really like amateur porn, since my teenage years. Pro porn always seemed too fake to me, with that giant fake boobs from the 90s. Since then, I've loved to collect and organize some materials that I like. One thing lead to another, and now I'm thinking about making a website of my own.

I'm a trained programmer (but I don't work at it anymore). I know how to handle Wordpress and I have intermediate SEO knowledge. I'm kinda tech savvy, so I think the technical stuff won't be any problem.

What I'd like to do here is throw some of my thoughts to you and let speak your mind about them, ok?

Language
First of all, I'm not sure what language I should use in my site. As you may have noticed, english's not my first language as I am from Brazil. So, my first question is: should I use english or portuguese?

The big pro about english is obviously the size of the audience. But, if use portuguese, I think I can reach a more specific niche. Well, there are more than 100M guys on Brazil, most of them looking for porn right now...

Niche
Ok, amateur porn is a niche per se. But I'm think that a specific niche can lead to better results. I want to do sets of vids/pics young (eighteen to twenty-something) girls. I'm thinking about softcore with a occasional hardcore.

You tell me "but that's a typical revenge porn site!" and I say "insert shoulder shrug GIF here".

Money Making
Well, this is a tough one. It really depends what language I choose to use. If I do it in english, there are countless options, like rev share and others. But, if I do it in portuguese, I'm not really sure what I can do. So, lets go to the questions:

- CPM still worths anything for porn? I've used EroAdvertising AGES AGO, don't know if this kind of stuff still pays up the effort.
- Popunders and such. Thoughts?
- Little idea for Ad.fly: create posts with 4/5 pics (or 1 vid) and a link that directs ad.fly, then to a full gallery. $5 for 10k views is kinda ok, right?

IMPORTANT: I really want to make a good website, so user experience is important to me. I know some things like popunders and ad.fly redirects are a little boring for the users, but I really think they'll be ok with it. But I don't want, in any circumstances, to scam they in some way to get some money.

Quality
As I said right before this, I really aim to make a good website. I'm doing it for the money, but I'm doing for the fun of it too. I want to make a small community of viewers, engaging them in my website and make they follow me, share my content and return frequently.

I'm accepting any suggestions that you got to make a good quality porn website.

Social Media
I think that I can do really good in this niche using social media. My sets includes nude and non-nude, so I can maintain accounts with acceptable content in Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

My doubt is: can I post a non-nude pic on my Facebook/Instagram/Twitter together with a link to the full set? Non-porn can lead to porn without banishment?

Security
Well, I'll be running a amateur porn website, right? Law suits are coming sometime! I know that I should use a VPN, but there are any other methods that I should use to protect my privacy and such?

If I where you, I would do the following: research the amateur market and start planning well.

and start researching the amateur sites according to their Alexa rank. Create a master list of the biggest amateur adult sites and tubes.

Next step would be to view the sites as a surfer. Make a list of what I like and what I don't like about each of them. You really need to think as a surfer, and in this step, you actually have to be the surfer.

The following step (after rebooting my mind with a smoke or a coffee), I would take is, set my mind to webmaster mode / website owner. Make a list of things I like about the design, what I don't like about the sites, what would I change, what elements do the best do better than the others? what do I think the reasons the top guys are really the top guys. Is there something done on other tubes that hasn't been applied to Amateur websites / tubes / blogs.
Example: SenePorno is doing something I can use on my amateur website - I would implement this.

Create a list of communities in my niche and visit the best ones. Research what is popular, and get involved as a surfer. What type of videos? Which sites are being linked to? Ads? popups?

Now that I have the researched data, and some clues about who I am competing against, I would start building my website, implementing the ideas I have. Once my website is designed, I would compare it to the list of websites I made in the earlier steps.

Ask yourself the following question: If I am the surfer, will I visit my own site or xVideos, PornHub, xHamster, etc.? why not? and why?

Don't be just another amateur website owner.
For your website launch, don't put ads on your website. Remove all popups. If you have popups all over your website, do you think the visitors will remain on your website or go straight to PornHub?

Try to grow your traffic 10% per week or at least 20% per month. If you do that in 12 months from now you will have a really solid business.

Is there another niche similar you can try? Maybe two. If you can have 3 sites targeting different niches with the same approach you could see some nice results.

Go for country based (Brazil for you) site, you'll face way lower competition.
VPN is fine but get a VPS for better security.

I've been planing to do some research, but you just gave me a method! Thanks for that! I already know some sites and have noticed some good and bad stuff, buy I will follow your plan and document this research to make a good "business plan" for my website.

This is exactly why I want to make a good website!

The mainstream websites, like xVideos and such, have millions and millions of content, but it's all unorganized. If you're looking for a niche, you'll get dozens of non-related search results every time. Besisdes, it is really hard to keep track of what's old and what's new, caused by the high number of repostings.

The niches sites are, as far as I know, just money baits. Websites with poor content, ugly and nonfunctional templates, scamming their visitor to click on ads to cash in some pennies. I want to make a good community, of people that shares the same taste than mine.

This is a very good goal. Using this I can measure the results of my efforts. Good idea!

I don't know... I think that I may have better results focusing on just one project instead of three. I am patient and confortable to wait the results scale step by steap.

Why do you think that I should do more than one? Scale?

Use english as langauge and go for Tier 1 Countries, any other country will make peanuts vs the money you can make with a tier 1 country with the same traffic.

this is just a simple oppinion, but I do think you should definitely go for English language and tier 1 countries so you should scale and run at least 2 sites, think of them as same project, having the same content on both but with small diferencies. ( more sites, more chances, its always a good idea )

Make the site different, original, to stand out from the others. Think of something new, engage with visitors, definitely you need a comment section, give them ranks for their activity etc.

people love this type of things... be bold! the colors are very important, as well. the titles of the videos ( maybe a video description when they scroll above the clip ). In the end, your effort wll determine your succes.

But what about the competition? I'm talking about the "blue ocean strategy" and to not try to surf a overcrowded wave. What you're saying is that I could make more money with less traffic if I go for Tier 1 countries?

I thought about doing it this way. If I use WordPress as I think I will, I can make a single "core site" and translate it to the two languages easily. About the investment, my rule of thumb is that I gotta expend some if I want to make it big!

I still don't get why I should make 2 sites. Yes, I know: never put all the eggs in one basket. But how will I make user engagement happen if I scatter the traffic around two or more domains? I see the point of making different sites with different content to different niches, but I don't get the point of making twins or triplets.

I really want to make something different. Something that makes my visitors become regulars and really engage with the site. I don't want to be another money bait on the web.
