    Ok, I finally have a second computer running... LONG STORY.

    Anyways now I have this second computer all ready to go and hooked up to the net. In all honestly I have no real need for it. Right now I'm using it soley for autosurf traffic... But, I would like to so something more than that with it.

    What I'm asking for is suggestions on how to better utilize it's resources. I'm ONLY interested in LEGAL purposes so please don't share illegal thoughts. My goal is to use my resources to make a profit so please keep that in mind when suggesting ideas.

    Thanks BHW,

    The_Demon

    EDIT: I'm now also using it for the Folding @ Home Research Project as well. =)
    For those who don't know just give it a Google. Summary though would be that it helps disease research.

    For anything special or just to be more efficient?

    Any specific tasks that I might be able to use mine for? Not asking for trade secrets or anything like that just tlaking generally. Unless of course there's something specific you want to share.

    PS: Are those all for you? :)

    flip it on ebay if you don't need the resources as of now, you can always buy later if you want.

    I have 11 machines and one server in my office, it gets filled up with people but during the night it feels like a lonely desert, I also have 2 laptops which I alternate in usage.

    See I am crazy too you know

    well the macro ideas and pigg kinds of services aren't bad ideas it's still kind of that grey line. I'm really striving to find "white hat" techniques but perhaps I'm in the wrong place for that? hmm.:tumblewee

    If the computer is fast enough, throw VMWare on it and make a virtual machine for everything everyone suggested in this thread, and run it 24/7.

    They are all for me. I have a Mac Pro with dual 24" for day-to-day business. I use another PC with dual 24" for a sterile environment (can't explain sorry). I have 30" on a web design machine (used to design sites). Also have another Mac Pro for video and audio editing with dual 24". In addition I have some support machines for various tasks and a netbook with a 10 hour battery life for out and about, and a tablet PC which I rarely use.

    Then I have a few other boxes of slightly older machines sitting in the closet. Let's not mention that every kid of mine in the house has their own machines, and my wife has her laptop.

    Its just the way I work and have for years. It's my motto since I have been in business (for over 28 years) to have the right tools and spare very little expense (don't go overboard) for the right equipment. I budget myself each month for equipment upgrades as this is what I do. :)

    @hot wicked

    WOW. PM me a pic of your setup if you don't mind or post. That would be really cool to see IMHO.

    What's that electric bill like??? LOL Must cost a fortune.

    Here's A pic of my setup though it was to big to fit all in picture. (Tower Missing below desk)

    the demon - Nice setup

    Are they two seperate systems or is the monitor connected to the laptop?

    Anyway back to the main point, set it up for some free hosting, there must be some black hat things you want to try but don't want to risk money/your server for..

    @shm03

    Many Black Hat things I'd love to try. So maybe I'll attempt some of the "lighter" things like tube increaser.

    And yes they are two seperate systems. I just put the keyboard there cause it glows blue and so does the mouse pad although it's hard to see. There's also blue led fans in my tower but it's really hard to capture the blue with my camera either to light or to dark to really show you guys. Though you can see the blue on the mouse pad a little bit... It's bright enough to light up a room in the dark though. And the keyboard's spectacular for late nights.

    INSIDE THE TOWER
    [IMG]
    * 2x floppy drive (who still uses these??? ... I have it for HDD NUKING which I occasionally do after moving files to a different drive)
    * 2x dvd dual layer burners (1x light scribe) :: REALLY FAST BURNERS
    * 1x 200gb maybe a 300gb have to check again.
    * around 13 usb ports :: 5 Turbo usb ports which are 10% faster than the fastest 2.0 ports
    * decent graphics card... not super high end but it's good.

    Hard Drive Space???
    [IMG]

    Seen here is a mix of 300gb / 200gb (not sure put away already and I have so many of each)... No this is not all my drives.
    Total I think I have something like 1.5 - 2.0 Tera Bytes of Storage. Though I'm about to buy another 1.5TB drive since they are so cheap now.

    @ The user who mentioned GIMPS.
    I think I found the website http://www.mersenne.org/ :: Please PM me if that's the wrong one.
    I will check it out... Though if that is right... Isn't helping disease research more important then playing with numbers??? I will consider it though and perhaps run both or if I really like it maybe I'll switch.
