Got a payment to one of my ETH addresses. The sender has not contacted me for buying any service that I provide for crypto. I checked the wallet it came from and it has very huge amount (worth millions) as balance. Should I be happy or worried ?

If you are located in india then be worried and wait for Income tax raid sooner or later.

better send back the funds where it came from as i heard few months back somebody getting like 100 bitcoins randomly.

They will take the tax or whole amount ? And this not some random transaction. The wallet has many transactions to other wallets in past.

capital gain tax with proper explanation of how you made that much in short time.

crypto is banned in India.

Remember government always knows what we do and what not as they have all our information from past and present .

Oh my bad, I accidentally sent that and generated a new address. :D Lol

There's nothing to worry about, act like you haven't received anything

LOL. I am sure IT Department has invented a technology that can identify the person behind random ETH addresses /s

You can have millions in your ETH wallet and IT department wouldn't know unless you send them on a KYC exchange or you cash out. (Note: I am NOT saying that you should not pay taxes.)

Even if the IT department knows that you have some ETH, in India tax laws are different (Please consult a CA, take whatever I say with a grain of salt). Unlike the US where every Coin to Coin trade is taxed, in India, you're only taxed when you realise the gain - convert the ETH into INR.

If you do cash out and the fund is really big, in Crores, you may be asked for an explanation on where did the funds come from. You might have a hard time explaining but as long as you have not stolen the ETH, IMO, you'll be fine after you pay the required taxes.

Absolutely nothing to worry about, keep going on with your life.

Party over, it was from a client who took payment details a month back. The fact that his wallet has ETH worth millions remains unchanged.
