I'm wondering how I can avoid someone finding out the other sites I own/run.

Keep in mind, each website would have protected registration (probably different protection services too) so there wouldn't be a link there.

Note: I'm not trying to scam or anything, I just don't want all my sites linking up so some jerk can mess with me.

    Shared Hosting:

If each site had a separate dedicated ip address, wouldn't that just make it look like each site is a different client within the shared host? And if someone did a reverse ip search or something on that server, it would show all the other clients sites too, and they couldn't determine which sites were mine out of the other hundreds of sites?

Or would I not need dedicated ip's? But doesn't that just put you in classes that reveal you own/run certain sites?

    Dedicated Hosting:

Would a separate IP address for each site hide the fact that they are located on the same server? Because if they see that there are only 5 sites hosted on this dedicated server (and they're all mine), I think they could put 2&2 together. lol

Any other info about how they could find out/link me up, would be great.

Thanks much for any insight! :)

Shared hosting is a good idea, some of those shared IPs have crap loads of clients stuffed onto them. Of course then your stuck on crappy shared hosting..

A dedicated IP for each site is ok, but if they are all sitting on the same c block that could give you away pretty easily. Usually hosting companies will assign your dedicated server sequential IPs
    192.168.0.101
    192.168.0.102
    192.168.0.103
    ect...

It really depends on how smart this theoretical jerk is..

This jerk is very real and he's pretty smart. Competitor that will do anything to try and sink my sites. :zx11pisse

The jerk doesn't know my other/new sites or ideas, so I have a chance to do it right this time (he'll never know unless I really screw up some how). Old one got sunken. err...

Shared hosting is fine for now. I just wonder if I should try the ded. ips or go shared ip.
