Dark grays are much better than black. Good choice. I like the clean look of the new logo also.
Material design 3 (figma) is very helpful for guidance on dark color pallets. For the surface color variants and on surface color variants.

It looks very beautiful and soothing to the eyes, I can hang around BHW for a few more hours with this new theme
