Should you vary your anchor texts when making guest posts or should you be using your keyword most of the time?

Use keyword variations to make it look natural. Better to choose a relevant/related niche blog as yours to guest post on. If you're able to source/create a high quality unique article, you may be able to get accepted by one of the top blogs in your niche, and get good targeted traffic too.

Anchor variation is very important, which I am leaning toward 70/30, ie 80% of my anchors are for non-keyword terms. Also, use synonyms for your target keywords. Google is using software to recognize text that is synonymous with a user's query to offer even more relevant documents.
