Anchor text to use for Junk 2nd tier Backlinks

Ok, I wanted to get everyone's opinion on what they use for back links to 2nd tier junk backlinks?

Do you use you main keywords or use secondary words that don't compete with your main keywords?

Or do you not use anything related to your keywords at all so your are not competing against you keywords?

I use related keywords that receive like less than <100 searches/month + random first last names
 
You dont want to accidentally rank those garbage sites. I have done that a few times when I was learning and I cringe every time I see that garbage site sitting at the number one spot haha
 
Yeah, I've done that a few times... So do you put completely unrelated keywords? Or just low volume loosely related words?

You wanna stay away from using your main keywords for anchor text on your tier 2+ properties otherwise those pages might outrank your money site. Haha yes Dan, I remember your posts last month about your amr articles/2.0's outranking your money site. Lesson learnt :P

lol. Just like everything in life, make mistakes and learn real quick and move on :) Those 2nd tiers are still there. What is really funny is that the article is totally unreadable and people still click through to my website. WTF right?
 
Hey Dan,

I would also do what Ed4252 suggests and have readable articles on more authority types sites than the one ones on AMR so ones like ezine, isnare, knol, etc.

The goal is to have your serps look like: money site #1, competitor #2, competetor #3, your article site #4, competitor #5, your article site #6, etc. You can take it a step further by ranking inner pages. This is how I squeeze out my competition. My niches are in finance/insurance/real estate, very tough. I am thinking about resorting to hacking edu pages to host my innerpages. The top 10 sites build a minimum of 2k quality contextual anchor links daily. Ranking additional sites/pages besides your main site is alot of work but it works for me.

I build links to my second tier using scrapbox and I just use the name generator to create a list of names. i dont care to much about anchor text for these sites just link juice.

Good advice. I am doing e-commerce so having articles don't really apply for my keywords. Instead, I would try and rank category pages first, then go after individual product pages that are relevant to that search. Articles and e-commerce are a no go especially for long tail highly relevant searches. It might be better to have readable content but the time it takes me to spit out a garbage article is nothing :)

Any other advice would be great. Not trying to hijack the thread :)
 
Actually you could write quite alot of articles for your products, especially "sales oriented" articles, might have issues with ezine but there are tons of other sites that will accept them.

The article can be one big ad for your product. I have a technical writer on staff who does this. For example: "why term life insurance is better than mortgage insurance" in my case and in your case: "why the ipad is better than a blackberry bold". Positive here is your estore should offer both products. This way the end user will pick a product and still purchase from your own site. I make more money off term insurance (but its more expensive for client) and thats why I push it. Either way, end user will be getting insurance/product via arbitrage, you just want to sell the product that pays more.

You can easily outsource these types of article to a native english speaker in the UK or the states. I am not taking anything away from non english native speakers, it just you sell more naturally in your native language.

You know that actually isn't a bad idea. Would you try and rank an ezine article or a web 2.o site article? Which would be better? I guess that is one way of owning a niche. Thanks for the tips, I have no idea why I didn't even think that :)
 
I would go for a 2.0 that doesn't get deleted. Best bet is WP so something catchy like ipadonsaletodayonly.wordpress.com, this way the end user is looking for a cheap price on the ipad and is bound to click on this type of a url name over the others. I see you are using SEnuke, you can easily set it up from there.
