Hey,

Im working on a new site and I want to know if I use brand / naked url / generic anchors how will Google know which keywords I am targeting as anchors won’t include keywords.

The website is well optimised, I just want to know how will Google pick up my keywords? If I don’t use keyword anchors.

Please can someone elaborate how that works?

OK, you can call me crazy but I don't believe google can understand/read content.
That's why I believe internal links play a major role.

When it comes to anchors, I like the idea of @bluematter

now I don't know google's internal workings, but I can assure you that they'll know which keywords you target if you get your on-page SEO right. Don't worry about anchor texts too much as millions of pages are not using exact match anchors and are ranking just fine
