Anchor text or web URL for Web 2.0 link building? Does it matter?

I am building web 2.0 link to my money site. All of these I am building manually which is time consuming but I am fine with that. Could any of you experts tell me if it matters if I used anchor text or my web URL for web 2.0 links to my money site? For example, if my niche is mobile phones, can I use for example...

Since a lot of time and effort manually typing my articles and putting them on web 2.0 sites so I might as well do it the best way possible. Any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know why you'd build web 2.0 links to money site. No one does that these days. Most web 2.0 is no-follow and some that are do-follow are meant to be used in strengthening the profile of your Tier 1 links.

Yeah you are right, that is what I thought too but I have been watching tutorials on seo and they show that their main money sites are linked to authority web 2.0 and then for tier 2, other sites are linked to the web 2.0. I thought I was doing the right thing.

Build 2 naked URLs , then 2 branded, and 1 keyword one. Then start over.
They will help your backlink diversity, they can pass some juice.

Mix it all up, no fixed rule. Just keep your keyword anchors below 10%

Every SEO on a budget would build Web 2.0's. These are free links that can push authority to your site. Make multiple page 2.0's add About, Contact, Privacy Policy etc.. mix it up.

Now for using anchors, that depends on your budget and the type of KW that you are targeting. If your KW is even moderately competitive then you know you need stronger links, either through guest posts or PBNs. If you choose to go that route then use your 2.0's for Branded links. e.g. if your website is www.ChinaWear.com then use anchors like China Wear or Best China Wear etc.. and then use the exact match keyword, LSI and long tails on the PBN. You can further dilute your anchor text profile with blog comments by using naked URLs.

If you are using 2.0's for heavy lifting then I would suggest finding expired blogs (don't use tumblrs find other ones) for exact match and LSI + long tails. Then build out new 2.0's for branded links. Honestly, this is not a sound strategy anymore.

Either way, these are great as foundational links and can help rank easier keywords.

why do you stay away from tumblr?

Because the linking patterns have changed and they work as redirects now. It better be a really bad ass tumblr for you to redirect it to your site

What the hell are you talking about?
Web 2.0 are great for building anchor diversity and great as free contexual links.

To the OP, it's all about diversity.
You need % of links with naked URL, % of links with exact kw anchor text, % of links with brand anchor text, % of links with generic kw's etc..
It's all about testing, using too high % of exact kw anchor text might actually decrease your ranking or to end up in a penalty in the long term.

Anyways, you need all kinds of anchors texts.

Thanks for all the tips guys. But like someone said, what happens if they are "nofollow" links. Could it be a waste of time then? I am building links to my money site.

Diversify things OP, people are going to give you all sorts of advice here.

You want diversity across all your anchors, so you should be using-

Exact match keyword (very low percentage - 1-2% imho)

Longtails

Related keywords

Partial match keyword

Brand

URL

Generic

Image

That way it looks totally natural and less chance of getting flagged up or penalised for over optimisation.

And yes Web 2.0 is fine to build, just make sure most of them allow do follow and make sure to build links to your web 2s to give them power.

Of course you can link to your money site from GOOD quality Tier 1 Web 2.0's!

The Web 2.0's I build for my clients use wordpress.com, boosites.com, tumblr.com and blogger.com. All of these are followed links (yeah I know tumblr redirects).


Use a variety of naked URL, keyword and related terms links.

It would not be good for all web 2.0 links as google may doubt
but whatever it is
you should use different anchors- phrases, synonyms and much more
But i would really not recommend you to build more than 7-10 web 2.0 links to a single page.
Rather you should practice tiered link building
