Are you posting comments with Blogengine blogs? They don't support link on your name as anchor text. I've tried it, too but no luck but works fine with Wordpress blogs.

Is it ok to actually put anchor text links in your actual comment so you could add kmore than 1 link to each of your comments?

    Name Field: Black Hat SEO
    Website: BHW.com
    Comment: whatever you like

the name field turns into a clickable link which goes to the website portion.

so, click your name and it goes to your bhw.com

I'm probably failing, but I can't find any information on this. Since the spiders are crawling the source code, is anchor text 100% mandatory? The link code should be found regardless.

Also, does the title tag affect how the spider reads it? For example <a href="page" title="keywords">(no anchor)</a>

You don't have to use anchor text code in the name section. Whatever text you type in there, it automatically becomes a clickable link. So you can type your name, keyword, site name or whatever you want. Once you post your comment it's hyperlinked.

Correct, whenever I'm cleaning up comments on my personal page and I see a name with a website behind it, I'm immediately skeptical. The majority of the time I'll remove the comment or remove the link.

Wordpress allows you to use html in the comment box (I haven't researched the other platforms just yet), so if you were to put an unanchored html link in the body, will the spiders still find it and treat it as a link?

If not, maybe images? Have a small little thumbs up image with your url anchored into it?

    Code:
     <a href="link goes here">.</a>
The >.< is the anchor point.

so you can make it any punctuation to any blog that gets swept by a human (on the comments section) because how do they know the hyperlink is in a period or a question mark etc. its hard to notice

i would only do keyword anchor points on blogs and things that are either monitored by a bot or not monitored at all.

    so for example:

o hey john great blog i will try that next time
    Code:
     <a href="link goes here">.</a>
post that html format right after the word time.

then when it gets published to a blog it just looks like a punctuation mark

As far as google spiders are concered iits still a backlink. as far as human is concerned its just puncuation :D

check on this tho im still learning.
