Hey Guys,

Just checked my backlink profile with ahrefs for the first time in a while and I've noticed that a fair few sites were dropped so my anchor text percentages are not what they once were.

Currently my brand name is sitting at 19% and then I have two keywords on 8% and two on 7%.

I've never built links using my brand name, so that percentage is all from other people, but should I dilute these out with generic anchors/other keywords or are the percentages fine?

why would you dilute anchors built naturally? or maybe i'm missing something

More or less my question was if the percentage of anchors really matters?

That question is quite hard to answer without knowing what the other 66% of anchors are at. Generally I hold it at around 30% for brand name, 10-15% url, 15% url variants and 30% for hard keywords and just 5-10% on generic terms, but this is just how I do it to stay save. This can also vary depending on how hard a keyword is. Hope that helps.

Don't bother about anchor percentages at this stage, ahrefs, majestic and all would give out different metrics anyway. Focus upon obtaining higher quality links.

I dont think you need to worry about it. As long as you dont have a higher exact match percentage you can feel safe

It does matter. You can try to use your name as anchor text or title of the post of mixed keywords.

It works like that -

40% of main keyword
30% of LSI keyword
15% of URL
15% of general anchor text.
