I usually use Statcounter and have used Google analytics. But I find that Google analytics is quite limited in a way and hard to navigate around. And Statcounter helps drill down where everybody is coming from. But it can get confusing at times.

But I didn't know if there was any other ones people like and why.

Thanks in advance

Mpulse,

There are a lot of other tracking platforms. Most of my experience is with Analytics but I'm aware of the features of some others. For example HiStats is a paid (and limited free version) that gives you a log analyzer. Its got some easier to interpret reports than analytics but if you do the free version there are tons of ads everywhere.

Clicky is another good one. Their claim to fame is the heat maps. Its also a paid solution with limited free use. I think you can get 3000 pageviews per month for free then you have to pay (which isn't much if you have a site with halfway decent traffic).

Hope that helps,

Shawn

+1 for piwik.

It is free.
Easy to use / install.
Gives you ranking data on keywords to your site.
Updates in real time.
It is NOT a google product.

Woopra wasn't bad. I used for real-time analytics and to send "promo messages" to live users on one of my sites.

All in all, G Analytics gets the job done.
