An Overview Of Post Count Inflation

Post count inflation (rule 3.5) is one of the most commonly broken rules on Black Hat World, but what exactly is it?

What Is It?
Post count inflation is the act of posting for the sake of increasing your post count.

The rule in the TOS (quoted below) specifically mentions excessive short reports, although anyone posting for the sake of getting to 15 posts in order to PM, 100 posts in order to get Jr. VIP, or 101+ posts just to bump your post count up is in violation of the same rule.

3.5 engaging in post count inflation by posting excessive amounts of short replies for the sole purpose of inflating your post count. This includes the infamous “thanks for the share.” (If you’d like to say “thanks” to someone for their effort/contribution, make use of the Thanks button).

Why You Shouldn't Do This
The reason why depends entirely on your motivation for inflating your post count.

• To post a marketplace thread: You might think darting toward 100 posts by posting 'I use GSA SER, sir' in a bunch of cryptocurrency threads is a good idea. However, getting to 100 posts and purchasing Jr. VIP doesn't mean you're in the clear as marketplace moderators do audit the post counts of new seller. If it's been determined that you inflated your post count for the sake of getting a marketplace thread, your posts will be deleted, you will be refunded, and you will receive an warning.
• To sell via PM without an upgraded membership: Not only will you get an warning for this, but any PMs you illicitly sent to our members will be deleted.
• To message a member: If you're just trying to send a regular message to someone, respond to one of their posts with something along the lines of, 'Hey, can you PM me? You seem like you know what you're talking about and I want to discuss this further'. This way, you don't have to inflate your post count and risk getting an warning
• To look popular: Post count alone doesn't make a member popular. If you want to be popular, help members out and contribute to the forum in a meaningful way.

In essence, we want our users to post genuinely on the forum. If you're genuinely engaging with the community, then there's no issue with posting a lot on the forum.

I don't know if I should write this here or send a pm to some of the mods, but 21 of my posts were removed, I know I broke a rule here (to be honest I didn't know this was a rule in the first place), but only the posts I made in the Introductions section were made to inflate that post count, in the rest of them I was trying to offer genuine advice or trying to contribute to the conversation. Could someone restore the ones that didn't broke any rules please :,(
Apart from that, it seems that today I lost 3 posts more, but no notification was given to me

We will not restore them.

Please do not spam the forum to increase your post count as that is not appropriate.
