Is it good to have an EMD for a micro niche site.Some people here says its not good and can make bad things to the site Help me clear my doubts

I use some emds and what i understand is that EMDs aren't good for you or bad for you.

I think emd's don't really matter, they just don't give any seo boost like they use to by google
